A New Chapter for Dallas Brooks Scout Park

After decades of quiet at Dallas Brooks Scout Park, located at the end of Harpfield Road, a revitalised Committee of Management has formed. In close consultation with the Upper Beaconsfield community, a renewed vision for the Park is taking shape—and continues to evolve.

Supporting Youth in Nature

At the heart of this renewed plan is a commitment to provide a natural bushland setting that supports youth programs. While Scouting remains a primary focus, the Park is also open to other youth-based organisations. This direction is a return to the original vision of the Park’s first management committee back in the 1950s.

Scouting is about more than fun and adventure. It aims to help build a generation of resilient, compassionate, and confident young leaders. Through outdoor challenges, community service, and everyday teamwork, young people are learning to lead with integrity, respect, courage, and cooperation—values our society needs now more than ever.

Caring for Flora and Fauna

The Park is not only a place for youth development—it is also a significant bushland reserve. Guided care, rather than ad hoc action, is already showing results. The contribution of the Upper Beaconsfield Conservation Group is proving invaluable. Together, we’re fostering opportunities for education, connection, and stewardship—especially for the next generation of Scouts and youth visitors.

Changes You’ll Notice

If you’re a local who walks or rides through the Park, you may have noticed an increase in activity. Yes, it may be a little messy and sometimes noisy. Roads, buildings, campsites, picnic areas, and activity zones are being refreshed to make them safer and more functional. Expect to see more traffic along Harpfield Road during this period of renewal.

Bushland Restoration Underway

Bushland care is also a priority. Building on the work of the Conservation Group, we’ve begun a program of weed removal and revegetation. We’re starting with knowledge sharing and discussion—then moving to the hard, hands-on work of restoring native habitat, all while continuing to run youth programs.

Many Hands, Many Thanks

There is still much to do. The Park depends on voluntary labour, skilled trades, heavy machinery—and generous donations. The beautiful and much-loved Dallas Brooks Scout Park doesn’t run on magic.
